you can see a little better here the mixing of the blue and red paints and, of course, the dedication. This book started out with a black, kind of scuffed up cover, and an unreadable interior. (It was a 1930's romance book, all about a girl from the right side of the tracks who accidentally kills her father, blahblahblah. Trust me, awful.) I got it for the title, and for the size -- not too small, not so thick as to be too daunting.
He was actually thrilled with his gift. I was a little bit afraid I'd get one of those forced-smile "oh! it's so....nice!" things, but it wasn't even remotely like that. :)
